Star Headliner - Eddie Mekka

 

Eddie Mekka - recently performed with his co-star for many years Cindy Williams in Sylvia, and also on a tour of Grease, but he is best known to television audiences for his role Carmine Ragusa on the hit ABC-TV sitcom Laverne and Shirley in which he was cast after being in Hollywood for only 3 days. While in New York Eddie was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor along with Joel Grey, Robert Preston, Raul Julia and John Cullum for the role of LYT Calley in the Broadway show Lieutenant. This led to numerous guest appearances on many popular series of the 70‘s, 80’s and 90‘s. Eddie was seen on such TV shows as The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Moonlighting, The New Rockford Files, The Jamie Foxx Show, 24, ER and Zack And Cody. He appeared as Grady, Jenna’s sidekick, on TV’s oldest daytime drama Guiding Light as well as appearances on other soap operas. Recent TV credits include Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Children's Hospital with Henry Winkler and Megan Mullally. Recently he appeared in an Off Broadway one man show My Mother’s Italian My Father’s Jewish And I’m In Therapy. He played over 15 characters. His favorite role is “Tevye” in Fiddler On The Roof which he has been been doing on and off for 20 years, his last with Sally Struthers. Eddie played Bette Midler’s cohort in the movie Beaches, Madonna’s boyfriend in A League Of Their Own, and was in the films Dream Girls, Dear God, On Top Of The World, (with Dennis Hopper), and Taking The Heat, with Lynn Whitfield. When not behind the cameras, Eddie is on the road with his musical nightclub act. Look out Tony Bennett!
